Social Empowerment and Inclusive Rural Community Assets Building: a Case Study of Cooperative Run by the Disabled People in Baishui County of Shaanxi Province

 

PART I: RESAERCH PROGRESS

This research program has just started up in January 2016, partnering with Department of Sociology, Peking University. The research team has cooperatively established two disabled social development centers.

 

One is Fan Jia Zhuo Village Disabled Social Development Center in Lei Ya Town, Baishui County. The other one is Zong Mu Village Nan Peng Ya Disabled Social Development Center. Both of them are to provide disabled persons or families a service of community-based rehabilitation, livelihood development, parenting education and other aspects of community integration for people with disabilities.

 

The centres can also be served as a platform to provide social service for people with disabilities Coordinated with disabled social development centers, a number of livelihood rehabilitation and other social services were provided to poor people with disabilities who are unable to work.

 

PART II: RESAERCH OUTPUTS

From January 2016, a collection of data and research stage to start the project. Our project team has gone through in-depth interviews, focused interviews, other methods of data collection and written a series of case reports in order to make some more advance research outputs for the next project stage.
